BILL DE BLASIO’S ANTI-GUN CRUSADE HITS A BIT OF A SNAG

Whoops.

From Jack Heretik’s article at freebeacon.com, we have this:

A high-level aide to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D.) was arrested Saturday night after police found her in a car with a loaded gun near the scene of a shooting.

Reagan Stevens, a deputy director in the mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and two men were arrested for illegal weapons possession, the New York Post reported.

Police said they found the trio sitting in a double-parked car near the scene of a Saturday night shooting in Queens. Law enforcement sources told the Post that a loaded, 9mm semi-automatic pistol with its serial number defaced was hidden in the 2002 dark red Infiniti SUV’s glovebox, and that there was a spent shell casing on the floor near Stevens’ feet in the backseat.

“Private surveillance video captured the muzzle flashes of five shots fired from the Infiniti, sources said,” according to the Post.

Stevens, 42, and the two men in the car—driver Caesar Forbes, 25, and front-seat passenger Montel Hughes, 24, who cops say also had knives on them—were each charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. One count is for the gun being loaded, the other for its illegally obscured serial number.

I wonder how long MS. Stevens will remain in the De Blasio administration.  Not very long, I’d think.

I also wonder what Ms. Stevens  was doing in that car, at night, with two males young enough to be her sons.

But, you may ask, what does this have to do with Mayor De Blasio personally? He can’t possibly know everything about, or be responsible for, every action by every member of his administration.

My answer is:  that is precisely the point. It has nothing to do with Bill De Blasio for exactly that reason.

I am blogging about this to point out that Bill De Blasio, like other politicians, be they Democrats or Republicans, cannot possibly be 100% knowledgeable about, thus responsible for, the actions of all their people.

If a politician hires someone known to be deficient and/or evil and/or corrupt, that’s one thing.  But if a politician hires someone who subsequently turns out to be this way?  Let’s be fair.

That’s something worth remembering.

  • Filing off a weapon’s serial number = criminal.

Firing a weapon on the city streets in the middle of the night = criminal.

  • But, you may ask, what does this have to do with Mayor De Blasio personally?

    No, I ask,
What does some criminal using his gun have to do with me and my gun?
They don’t seem to ask that when demanding more gun laws.
