Welcome to the land of Bergdahlistan, where the father and son apparently share their dislike of the USA, their preference for Afghani “culture”, and find it preferable to speak in Pashti than English.
Now we are being told that, after five years of being held by the taliban, bowe bergdahl no longer speaks English.
If you believe this you need a lobotomy reversal.
bowe bergdahl forgot his native language in five years? What language do you think the taliban interrogated him in for those years?
And his father, robert bergdahl, with a beard that would make any taliban or al-qaeda member proud as a peacock, greats him home not in English but in Pashti? And then goes on line to tweet demands that every terrorist in Guantanamo be released.
This is who we traded murdering terrorists for – murdering terrorists who I have no will go right back to killing innocent people, preferably American soldiers who are worth more than 1,000 bowe bergdahls?
This excerpt from an article by Nathan Bradley Bethea of dailybeast.com, who was there when bergdahl deserted, was written in mid-January. I wish that everyone who has heard the Obama administration\’s defense of this “deal” could read every word of it. Please pay special attention to the segment I\’ve put in bold print:
Heis safe, and now it is time to speak the truth.
Andthat the truth is: Bergdahl was a deserter, and soldiers from his ownunit died trying to track him down.
Onthe night prior to his capture, Bergdahl pulled guard duty at OPMest, a small outpost about two hours south of the provincialcapitol. The base resembled a wagon circle of armored vehicles withsome razor wire strung around them. A guard tower sat high up on anearby hill, but the outpost itself was no fortress. Besides thetower, the only hard structure that I saw in July 2009 was a plywoodshed filled with bottled water. Soldiers either slept in poncho tentsor inside their vehicles.
Thenext morning, Bergdahl failed to show for the morning roll call. Thesoldiers in 2nd Platoon, Blackfoot Company discovered his rifle, helmet, body armor and web gear in a neat stack. He had, however, taken his compass. His fellow soldiers later mentioned his stateddesire to walk from Afghanistan to India.
TheDaily Beast\’s Christopher Dickey later wrotethat “[w]hether Bergdahl…just walked away from his base or waslagging behind on a patrol at the time of his capture remains an openand fiercely debated question.” Not to me and the members of myunit. Make no mistake: Bergdahl did not “lag behind on apatrol,” as was cited in news reports at the time. There was nopatrol that night. Bergdahl was relieved from guard duty, and insteadof going to sleep, he fled the outpost on foot. He deserted. I\’vetalked to members of Bergdahl\’s platoon-including the lastAmericans to see him before his capture. I\’ve reviewed the relevantdocuments. That\’s what happened.
Of all the mistakes this administration has made, of all the failures, of all the lying, I don\’t think anything has incensed me more than this illegal “deal” (which required congressional notification that never was provided) to put five murdering terrorists back into circulation so that we could get a deserter back to his apparently taliban-sympathizing father.
How could a President of the United States do such a thing? And how could he then send out other lying members of his administration to try and justify it with even more lies?
More on this in the next blog.
