What you are about to read is not a prediction. It is an observation.
As I watched this morning\’s Today Show, and heard, I think, the third different person note that Joe Biden\’s “I\’m not running” speech could, word for word, have been his “I am running” speech (my family would have supported me, I know what the next President has to do, I am not endorsing anyone at this time, certainly not Hillary Clinton, but there\’s just not enough time to put together a campaign)…
…it occurred to me that, if a number of major players in the Democrat Party – maybe a few senators and governors, with a few major unions – were to petition him to run, and assure him they could put together a viable campaign….
…the exact same words he spoke could be used to reconsider and get into the race, “by popular demand”.
The idea that Joe Biden won\’t take a shot at the presidency because of timing makes no sense to me. Mr. Biden and his people have always known the timing issues, it\’s not like he suddenly discovered them. It just doesn\’t hold water.
But as a straw-man reason, that could very easily be taken down by the circumstances outlined above? It works just fine.
Again, this is no prediction, only an observation. But I\’ll be watching and listening with great interest to see what happens over the next few days.
