Yesterday, President Obama announced a nuclear “deal\’ with Iran.
Hours laters, Iran\’t foreign minister told the world that he agreed to no such thing:
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif accused the Obama administration of misleading the American people and Congress in a fact sheet it released following the culmination of negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
Zarif bragged in an earlier press conference with reporters that the United States had tentatively agreed to let it continue the enrichment of uranium, the key component in a nuclear bomb, as well as key nuclear research.
Since a deal between two sides requires that both sides agree to it, this “deal” does not exist.
But here is what Secretary of State John Kerry said about this non-existent “deal” last night:
“Look at the access we will have to their nuclear facilities, the tracking of their uranium, the oversight of their promises that they have made with respect to this, the accountability we will have.
“We have a whole new system that we designed and that they accepted and worked on to absolutely answer that question. So that we now have a guaranteed access.”
Again, these are terms which which the Iranian foreign minister has already said he did not – repeat, not – agree to.
And that is before we get to the fact that Iran has a rich history of cheating on “deals” – specifically including nuclear “deals” – any and every way it can.
Therefore, the best thing I can say about John Kerry, and his boss, President Obama, are that they are delusionary.
A more honest assessment is that they know damn well this is a phony-baloney “deal”, but are putting it out there to make themselves look good to the low-information crowd, knowing that when the consequences of this phony-baloney “deal” come to roost, they will be gone….and will be able to blame it on someone else. Hey, we got it done, and they screwed it up.
As far as what it means to Israel and its Arab neighbors in the Middle East, where Iran-funded terrorists are busily trying to take over, and killing untold numbers of people in the process? What will they do to protect themselves? What must they do to protect themselves?
Simply stated, this is exactly the kind of “deal” I would expect from an incompetent President and a Secretary of State without one major accomplishment in over 30 years in Washington D.C.
Anyone who thinks this makes the world safer rather than less safe is as delusionary as they are.
