I just called BankAmericard to find out why there is a $14 fee on my wife\’s Visa card.
After going through as grating a series of voice menu prompts as they could come up with, I wound up with customer service agent who informed me that when we took a $250 advance a few weeks ago, there was a 5% fee – plus a $1.50 transaction fee. Total $14.
I assured the agent that what I was about to say was not directed at her personally – and that I hoped it was being recorded, I then told her that this was exactly the kind of crap I would have expected from a gambling casino. It was usurious, disgraceful and that (other than for a dire emergency, of course) we would never use the card this way again.
As I am also telling you.
I do not know if other banks engage in this kind of low-grade thievery, but sort of suspect they do. I hope I\’m wrong.
Anyway, I learned a lesson that you just got for free.
