ARE RACIST COPS THE REAL PROBLEM?

I am writing this blog to recommend two new commentaries:  one by syndicated columnist Larry Elder, the other by American Thinker (americanthinker.com) columnist Colin Flaherty.

Both talk about the same subject:  race hustlers and the left, using the Michael Brown and Eric Garner deaths to push a “racist cop” routine….while ignoring the scourge of Black-on-Black murders which decimate Black neighborhoods and do infinitely more damage than the hundred or so police killings of Black suspects each you (most of which are unchallenged) could ever do.

Here is an excerpt from Mr. Elder\’s piece:

In2012, according to the CDC, 140 blacks were killed by police. Thatsame year 386 whites were killed by police. Over the 13-year periodfrom 1999 to 2011, the CDC reports that 2,151 whites were killed bycops — and 1,130 blacks were killed by cops.

Sowhat\’s driving this notion that there is now an “epidemic”of white cops shooting blacks when in the last several decades thenumbers of blacks killed by cops are down nearly 75 percent?

Where\’sthe evidence suggesting race had anything to do with the death of12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland, who was pointing a pellet gun atbystanders before being shot and killed by police?

What\’sthe racial nexus to the death of Eric Gardner, the large, obese manwho died after being taken down by several NYPD cops?

Thiswhite-cop-out-to-get-black-civilian narrative advances the interestof many. The media loves what Tom Wolfe called the “Great WhiteDefendant” — a bad white guy everybody can agree to dislike. For the Democrats, it furthers their assertion that race remains amajor problem in America, that Republicans/tea partiers/blackconservatives are out to get them, and you must vote for us. For”activists” like the Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and local wannabes, it gives them continued relevance.

Thatthis “epidemic” is imaginary can be demonstrated by therecent stories that never became national news.

Mr. Elder goes on to cite one specific example after another the recent stories referenced above. Interested in reading them? If so, here\’s the link.

Similarly, Mr. Flaherty offers example after example of the same.  Here is the first of them…and you can click here for the rest:

Familiesare lining up to make their son the next Michael Brown.  Waitingto tell their story of how racist cops killed their child For NoReason Whatsoever.

Thelatestexample comes from Philadelphia, where, early Monday morning, police shot Brandon Tate-Brown.  The details are familiarenough: the 26-year old Tate-Brown was driving at 3 a.m. withoutheadlights when two officers stopped him.

Ifthis stop was anything like most others, then Tate-Brown convincedhimself he was being pulled over for one reason only: driving whileblack.

Soonafter he got out of the car, a struggle began.  That\’s howreporters describe it, so they can leave open the journalisticpossibility that instead of Tate-Brown resisting arrest and attackingpolice, maybe the cops attacked him For No Reason Whatsoever.

Otherthan that they are degenerate racists,  of course.

WhetherTate-Brown attacked the cops or the cops attacked him For No ReasonWhatsoever, he was soon back in his car, lunging for a gun.

Therethey killed him.

Thegun was stolen.  The dead man was a hardcore convict with ahistory of shooting people and doing time in prison.  Being inpossession of that gun – stolen or not – would have been ticketback to the penitentiary.

Thatdid not matter much to the outlaw\’s family.

“Frommy eyes, he was a good guy,” Tate-Brown\’s mother told the localNBC affiliate.  “I would like to know why the police have theright to kill instead of disabling.  It has to stop.”

Tate-Brown\’smother last saw him during the Sunday night Philadelphia Eaglesfootball game.  The family said he had a jovial spirit despite adifficult past, said the reporter for the NBC affiliate.  He hadjust gotten a job and was getting his life together, they said.

Itis not known whether he learned that jovial spirit in prison, wherehe recently spent five years for trying to kill someone.  He hadfour prior convictions, two for attempted murder and related charges(including violation of the Uniform Firearms Act), theft, andreceiving stolen property.

Thenext night, Tate-Brown\’s mother was in the street and, with theassistance of Al Sharpton\’s National Action Network, wastelling a crowd that her son would never do anything likestarting a fight with a cop.

Noone seemed to care that she was not telling the truth.

Compare what you read in these two commentaries to what we know about Michael Brown and Eric Garner.  See which of them provide a more compelling narrative of what is truly happening in Black America.

Are there racist cops?  Of course there are.  There are racist everythings.  Are Black people hassled/mistreated because of their skin color?  I have no doubt that it happens, and plenty.  Just as there are racist outrages perpetrated by people of all races in all walks of life every day.

Does this mean that, as a general precept, cops are racist?  No it does not, any more than it does for any other segment of society in which racism exists (which is to say, every segment of society).

With that in mind, ask yourself why stories like those of Brown and Garner are virtually the only ones you ever see/hear in mainstream media.  And why race hustlers like sharpton, Jackson, etc. seem to be driving the entire direction of what is and is not reported.

Then weep for what has happened to honest journalism.
