Last week we heard about a Muslim college student in Louisiana who claimed to have been robbed and verbally assaulted by men wearing Trump hats. But when she was confronted with the police investigation, which concluded that it never happened, the student admitted she made the whole thing up. She is now being charged.
And today we find another such instance.
From Warner Todd Huston’s article at breitbart.com:
A man in the suburb north of Boston told police on Tuesday that he was accosted by two white men after getting off a Boston mass transit bus near Broadway Square in Malden.
The complainant, who has remained unidentified, said the men used racial slurs and warned him he would soon be lynched because the U.S. is now “Trump country.” The man said he ran away and hid, waiting for the men to go away before calling police.
Malden police immediately prioritized the report as a “hate crime” and an investigation was opened. But now police are reporting that their investigation revealed a hoax had been committed.
“As a result, it has been determined that the story was completely fabricated,” Malden police Chief Kevin Molis said in a statement reported by the Boston Herald. “The alleged victim admitted that he had made up the entire story,” saying he wanted to raise awareness about things that are going on around the country.”
I keep wondering how many fraudulent incidents like this have to be uncovered, and how many real instances in which people – including schoolchildren – have been beat up or otherwise abused for daring to support Donald Trump, for mainstream media to report this honestly.
And then reality hits, and I realize that mainstream media are not going to do so. That they are in the get-Trump business for the long haul, not just the presidential election process and campaign itself.
They didn’t like Trump to begin with (and, let’s be honest, he gave them a lot not to like). They loved Hillary Clinton (and, let’s be honest, she gave them a lot not to like – but, in her case, they just declined to know).
Now they’re not only stuck with the guy they wanted to take down, but an excellent argument can be made that, by “reporting” the campaign so astonishingly one-sidedly, they created a backlash which actually contributed to Trump’s win – maybe even pushed it over the finish line.
Resentments for things like this run deep. And if you doubt me, settle in for the next four years. If they’re anything like the last 10 days it is going to be an unending hate-fest.
