AND THE HORSE HARRY RODE IN ON…

Today’s Wall Street Journal’ has published a greatly justified “don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out” rebuke to the repulsive senior Senator from Nevada, Harry Reid.

Here are the first few paragraphs – and I’m adding the title of the piece as well, partly because it is so out of character for the WSJ, and partly because it is so well deserved:

Harry Reid…[t]he soon-to-be-former Democratic Senate leader issued a statement Friday… “The election of Donald Trump has emboldened the forces of hate and bigotry in America… White nationalists, Vladimir Putin and ISIS are celebrating Donald Trump’s victory, while innocent, law-abiding Americans are wracked with fear—especially African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Muslim Americans, LGBT Americans and Asian Americans. Watching white nationalists celebrate while innocent Americans cry tears of fear does not feel like America.”

Crazy Harry went downhill from there, and Democratic Senator Joe Manchin… was appalled enough to issue a public rebuke: “Senator Harry Reid’s statement today…is wrong! It is an absolute embarrassment… I want to be very clear, he does not speak for me…”

Mr. Reid will be gone with the current Congress but Republicans may miss him considering all he has done to help them. By killing the filibuster…he has made it easier for Mr. Trump to get his nominees confirmed… By stretching the rules for budget reconciliation, he has set a precedent for Republicans to repeal much of ObamaCare…

And by blocking vote after vote… Reid made it impossible for Democrats…to differentiate themselves from President Obama…

So Harry Reid rides off into the sunset – quite possibly in a Rolls-Royce since, as a Senator he has become fabulously wealthy through a series of malodorous “deals” that would have been fodder for mainstream media if he were a Republican.

I, for one, won’t miss him.  As, as the Wall Street Journal has correctly indicated, neither should anyone else.
