DECLASSIFICATION: AND THE HEAT GOES ON….

Former Obama-appointed CIA Director John Brennan has gone into full panic mode, over the prospect that declassified documents will show the public how the two-year mueller investigation of nothing (not one charge was filed beforehand, not one charge was legitimized by the report) was concocted in the first place.

I don’t blame him a bit.

From Reed Richardson’s article at mediaite.com:

Former CIA Director John Brennan blasted President Donald Trump’s decision to grant his attorney general unfettered access to sensitive intelligence material about agency sources in Russia as an “outrageous move” and an “unprecedented act.”

Appearing on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Brennan warned that delegating so much authority to the Attorney General Bill Barr as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into the investigators of Trump’s 2016 campaign appeared to prioritize political expediency over national security. Brennan, a longtime, vocal critic of Trump’s, notably had his security clearance revoked by Trump last summer in a move broadly seen as payback by the president.

“Is [Barr] just going to be looking for information that…Mr. Trump can just give to some of his defenders on the right and cherry-pick information that could be taken out of context?” Barr asked. “More fundamentally, the concern is that very, very precious and sensitive sources and methods of the United States intelligence community as well as our papers and allies abroad. Those who share this sensitive information with us, is Mr. Barr, who doesn’t have the understanding, is he going to release information that he deems appropriate for Mr. Trump’s defense? This is very serious and know that my former colleagues in the intelligence agencies are looking upon this with great concern and worry.”

Translation:  “Holy excrement.  It’s going to come out.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen.  Hillary Clinton was supposed to win and all of this would be buried.  Then, if anyone brought it up after she was President we could laugh it off as a bunch of old news, and our owned-and-operated media would go along with us, like they have since Trump got into the oval office.”

I have a question for Brennan.  And Clapper.  And Comey.  And Strzok and Page and McCabe and Lynch and, for that matter, former President Obama (among others):  if everything you did was just fine, and this is just Republican sour grapes, why aren’t you THRILLED that the relevant documents will be declassified?  It will make them look like a bunch of idiots and you like the honest, ethical giants you claim to be.

Anyone think they know the answer to that question?

Here’s my opinion on the subject:  show us what you’ve got, Attorney General Barr.  Regardless of which direction it takes us, and regardless of which party it helps or hurts.

If ever we needed a dose of truth, the time is now.
