Much of the mainstream media are falling all over themselves to characterize President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, as a “moderate”.
They are full of bull droppings.
Judge Garland is a hardliner against the second amendment, and in favor of unlimited abortions and he is every union’s wet dream. You may like or dislike those positions, but please do not tell me that the person who holds them is a “moderate”. Even the New York Times acknowledges as much.
It is true that Judge Garland is moderate compared to President Obama’s two other supreme court nominees, Sonia Sotomayor and Ellen Kagan – both of whom were confirmed by Democrat-majority senates. But that doesn’t make him a “moderate” any more than a guy who bats .238 is a good hitter because he compares favorably someone who bats 187.
I firmly believe Republicans are dead wrong not to allow Mr. Garland a hearing and a vote. But I refuse to play lets-pretend on who he is and what his record shows.
