“Congress is hardly functioning these days. It can\’t pass legislation that is controversial and it often can\’t even pass legislation on which there is broad agreement. Its reputation is abysmal, and even its members rarely dispute the popular indictment.
“It needs fresh leadership, energy and ideas, and Cory Gardner can help provide them in the U.S. Senate.”
That\’s quite an endorsement for Colorado Republican senate hopeful Cory Gardner, who is trying to unseat incumbent Democrat Mark Udall.
Must be from one of the conservative papers in some small to medium sized town…
…except it happens to be from the Denver Post. The same Denver Post which endorsed Barack Obama, and did the same for Mr. Udall when he ran 6 years ago.
Gardner had already edged ahead of Udall in most recent polls. It seems self-evident that an endorsement from the usually Democrat-friendly Denver Post can do nothing but help him continue on that path.
Colorado is a must-win state for Democrats if they are to keep control of the senate. And, even with this endorsement, it is still within reach.
But now the odds, it seems to me, are pretty solidly in Mr. Gardner\’s favor.
And the beat goes on……
