You cannot make this stuff up.
Here, from al Sharpton\’s “PoliticsNation” show on (where else?) MSNBC, is the transcript of a short colloquy between Sharpton and Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), as they discuss the House select committee being formed to investigate the Benghazi massacre:
Sharpton:Some Democrats are saying boycott. Others are saying we should go in.There\’s even a petition to make you the sole Democrat on thatcommittee. Would you be the Republicans worst nightmare if you werethe only Democrat on that committee, Congressman Grayson?
Grayson:I would be their worst, worst nightmare. I\’d be their worst and lastnightmare.
Sharpton:Would you do it?
Grayson:Absolutely. Somebody\’s got to tell the truth. Somebody\’s got to tellthe truth.
Do you believe the ego this guy has?
Suppose you are a Democrat house member – one who has been around for a while and feel you are reasonably capable and effective at your job. Here is this loudmouthed egomaniac from Florida – with less than two terms in the house under his belt and few accomplishments of any kind – informing the world that he is the single most capable Democrat to be on the committee – and, as an extra-added attraction, that he is needed because “somebody\’s got to tell the truth” (the implication being that, without him, the truth won\’t come out).
Would you have a problem with that? I would think so.
The funny part is that, I am guessing, Republicans would be every bit as happy to have Grayson on the committee as Grayson would. Because his nasty, vituperative, sarcastic, grating style will be showcased as what Republicans have to deal with every day.
Personally, I am rooting for Alan Grayson to be selected. It will be great theater, if nothing else (and “nothing else” might well be the operative term here).
