A UNITED NATIONS STATEMENT (OVER 2 1/2 YEARS LATE)

The following statement was issued by the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (I’ll wait until you stop laughing derisively at the suggestion that anyone at the United Nations has any meaningful involvement in any so-called “peace process” in Gaza.  Assuming you eventually stop the laughing, I will now show you the statement):

Statement by the United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, on the Situation in Gaza

“I strongly condemn the recent obstruction of humanitarian operations in Gaza by the de facto authorities, which endangered humanitarian personnel, intimidated workers delivering lifesaving food assistance and disrupted life-saving humanitarian operations.

Yesterday, humanitarian workers were forced to halt food distributions after armed personnel affiliated with the de facto authorities forcibly entered the Abu Rashid food distribution point in Jabalia, North Gaza. The forces also entered a WFP warehouse and reportedly assaulted two truck drivers who were delivering humanitarian supplies.

These incidents are not isolated. They are completely unacceptable and reflect an increasingly dangerous pattern of intimidation, violence and obstruction, including smuggling attempts, targeting and abusing humanitarian operations. They are placing humanitarian workers at risk, disrupting the delivery of life-saving assistance, and further constraining the ability of humanitarian organizations to operate at a time when civilians across Gaza continue to face immense and pressing humanitarian conditions.

Direct threats to staff, interference with humanitarian supplies, and the shrinking humanitarian operating space continue to jeopardize operational continuity. At the same time, the expansion of areas under Israeli control is further reducing the space available to civilians, making it imperative that humanitarian assistance is able to move safely and reach people in need without interference.

Under international humanitarian law, all parties must respect and protect humanitarian personnel, facilities and relief supplies, and refrain from actions that obstruct humanitarian operations.

I call for an immediate end to all interference with humanitarian operations and to respect their independence, impartiality and neutrality. Civilians, including humanitarian personnel, must always be protected, and rapid, safe and unimpeded passage of impartial humanitarian relief must be facilitated.

The people of Gaza have already endured immense suffering. They cannot be subjected to further delays or disruptions in the delivery of life-saving assistance. I reiterate that humanitarian organizations must be able to carry out their work safely, independently, impartially and without fear of intimidation or violence.”

[END].

Well, well, well.  The “United Nations, via Deputy Special Coordinator For The Middle East Peace Process, Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, has just noticed that the “de facto authorities” in Gaza raid food distribution centers, and Gazans don’t get food because of it.

Tell you what:  unless the internal, “de facto authorities” in Gaza are being run by Israel, I guess it must be other Gazans – think of hamas and its plentiful lackeys – doing this.

And Dr. Alakbarov’s comment that “these incidents are not isolated” tells us that he, and the United Nations, know this is not some one-off incident, but it happens again and again.  So where the EFF was he and the UN when it happened all those other times.

I could go on.  But I think you get the idea.  But just one other point:

If you have an IQ at least as high as an average squirrel, I assume you are noticing that this statement, describing an ongoing horror show in Gaza by the people running Gaza is being condemned over 2 1/2 years after the October 7, 2023 massacre of over 1,200 people – including women and children who were mutilated in unspeakable ways – and taking of over 250 or so hostages.

Uh…, other than a couple of boilerplate BS statments, where the EFF were the condemnations from the UN about that for the past 2 1/2 years?  It sure had no trouble condemning Israel for doing something about it.

The UN once was a useful organization.

It still is a useful organization.  The problem, however, is that it once was a useful organization for world peace and tranquility, but for a good many years has degenerated into, all too often, an organization that is primarily useful for the worst people out there.

Any day that we can replace this shell of a once-valuable organization with one that approximates what the UN once upon a time used to be, will be a happy day for decent people.
