A QUICK POINT ABOUT “I CAN\’T BREATHE”

People protesting the police action against Eric Garner have made a rallying cry of the words “I can\’t breathe”, which Garner said repeatedly before dying.

Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos can\’t breathe either.  And, unlike small-time recidivist Eric Garner, who would be alive today if he had not resisted arrest for illegally selling untaxed cigarettes without a license, Officers Liu and Ramos were doing nothing but sitting in their patrol car.

Do you think the protesters, who presumably are against unnecessary death, which premeditated cold-blooded murder certainly is, will use that line to march against the killings of officers Liu and Ramos?

Don\’t hold your breath waiting.

Incidentally, the fact that Mr. Garner repeatedly said “I can\’t breathe is one of the reasons – along with the video tape itself – that I dispute his death was because of a chokehold (watch the video tape and see how many seconds that supposed chokehold actually could have been administered.)

You can\’t keep repeating “I can\’t breathe”, or, for that matter, anything else, in a normal-sounding voice if your windpipe is being so severely restricted that it kills you.
