Am I the only one who finds Optimum’s “The Unmovers” commercials racially offensive?

  • No you are not the only one. The unmovers are extremely racist ads. The black guy is involved in just about all of the destructive behavior. Especially in the ads airing summer 2016.

    In one ad he thinks red tagged items are for him to steal and bring home.

  • I honestly don’t think they could jam pack anymore racial stereotypes into a 20″ long commercial. Personally, I am not offended in anyway because none of the racial aspects apply to me, but I have friends and colleagues who are offended. The whole “Unmovers” series or whatever you want to call it is in very poor taste.

    • Very poor taste, and still run relentlessly by Optimum. Plus, now they are also running a John Lequizamo execution that is offensive to gays. What next? Drunk Irish guys, Italians with submachine guns? Jews with big noses and pockets stuffed with money?

  • So glad I’m not the only one who finds these ads offensive . Hard to believe NOBODY on the production / casting end couldn’t see a problem . I have no problem with the actors but why is the Latino guy clueless , the black guy is lazy and the white guy is just “goofy”. As Obama would say ” “come on man “. Pull these ads they’re not even funny .

  • I feel it is racially offensive and is not funny. The overweight black guy plays a dumb, lazy, thief? It’s disgusting, unclassy and unimpressive. Is using stereotypes in poor taste there very best commercial sales tactic? SO INSULTED…..

  • The Unmovers commercials that Optimum is using effectively portrays a moving outfit that is not competent. However, the portrayal of the black guy, Leonard Ouzts, as lazy is reenforcing a stereotype that is not in the best interest of African Americans, many of whom are clearly not lazy and are working to provide positive role models for African American youth. Why is Optimum doing that? I would like to have someone from Optimum answer that for all of us.

    • Lazy, slovenly, stupid and dishonest…with an unmistakable Black ghetto accent. It is a disgrace that these commercials are running, and an astonishment to me that groups which at least ostensibly oppose racial stereotypes have not been screaming about them from day one.

    Cool it, folks! If you find this ad racist I agree. If you find it funny I agree also. I think the two views can coexist……..or am I a racist too? Make fun of my people and I will laugh ( I’m Irish). My rule in this life……you have to insult me 5 or 6 times ethnically before my eyebrows move. And then I will ask about your problem. Freedom of speech, and can we all get along?
