The President of the United States spent his Tuesday morning publicly harassing a 16-year-old high school junior. Her only crime? The talented student athlete won two California Interscholastic Federation titles in the girls’ long jump and triple jump at the Southern Section finals held Saturday and is now entitled to compete in the state finals in Clovis, May 30-31.
Funny; the editorial left a little something out. Can you guess what it is?
Oh, yeah. The “16 year old high school junior” this editorial refers to as “her” is a male. A biological male.

Here’s the news, McClatchy California Editorial Boards: a vast majority of the country does NOT agree that boys who decide they are women should be allowed to compete in women’s sports…and use women’s locker rooms to change clothes either.
The latest poll data reported on April 30 by NBC (which isn’t what you’d call pro-Trump) indicate that 75% – that’s 3 out of 4 – people do not support so-called transgender athletes participating in women’s sports. So your casual, second-nature, “yeah, we all know this is correct” characterization of that 16 year old as “her”, and your anger at Donald Trump for objecting to him (NOT her) competing against women, is far, far from accepted in the general population. And, in case you think this is some kind of outlier, be aware that a bunch of other polls show the same result.
So go ahead and call Trump’s majority position on this an example of “harassing”. But know that, to a very large majority of the country, the only one you are causing to look bad…is you.
