A FEW QUESTIONS FOR REPRESENTATIVE JOHN KING

Ken Berwitz

Should Donald Trump be barred from entering a state, on the grounds that he is a racist?

Well, one Democrat legislator in South Carolina thinks so.  Here is why, via excerpts from Harriet McLeod\’s article at yahoonews.com:

A Democratic legislator in South Carolina has a message forRepublican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump: Stay out of my state.

RepresentativeJohn King filed a resolution on Tuesday saying the Republican front-runner\’s”abrasive and racist rhetoric” did not belong South Carolina, a statethat King said has worked to move beyond a past of racial intolerance.

“SouthCarolinians have tirelessly worked to overcome a history of hatred and bigotryand there is no place in this state for anyone who espouses hatred andbigotry as a campaign slogan,” King\’s resolution said. “He is notwelcome in the state of South Carolina.”

King,a funeral home owner and member of South Carolina\’s legislative black caucus, represents Rock Hill, which he said posts the motto “No Room ForRacism” on all city limit signs.

“Mr.Trump must have missed them on his way into town,” King said in astatement.

A few questions for Representative King:

-Are you by any chance acquainted with the United States Constitution?  If not – and that appears to be a distinct possibility – please be aware that it is only about a 10 minute read.  You should get yourself a copy.

-Forgetting the constitution for a moment, can you cite any racist comment made by Donald Trump?  While he has made some very provocative comments and suggestions, I am unaware of any instance in which he has said anything overtly racist.  Calling for a halt to Muslim immigration until we can figure out how to distinguish between sincere Muslims and jihadists is, by definition, an indication that he does not say they are all the same.

-Given your zero tolerance for racism, have you filed a resolution to keep career racists like al sharpton, or louis farrakhan, or malik zulu shabazz out of South Carolina.  How about the leaders of #blacklivesmatter, who ongoingly demand that Black people be allowed to segregate themselves from Whites, especially on college campuses.  I would bet you have not.

I often say it is amazing how much racism emanates from people who profess to be against racism.  I have a feeling that John King is an excellent case in point.

Now, let\’s see how many Democrats condemn King for what he said and demand an apology.

Hint:  don\’t prepare for a tidal wave.  Be surprised if there is even a ripple.  Racism, you see, is far more palatable if there is a “D” after the name.
