As NBC News, the New York Times – and, I am sure many other mainstream media venues – report the current Israel/hamas conflict (not quite an out-and-out war, but definitely could become one) in term of Palestinian Arab casualties, complete with grieving women crying out for their children…
…I have a few questions:
-If hamas, the terrorist organization which rules Gaza, continues to rain artillery on Israel, and it is fired from locations with civilian populations – often with those grieving women and their children acting as “human shields” in the hope it will deter Israel from taking them out – what exactly do you think is going to happen?
-Israel\’s choice is either to allow the attacks to continue, which puts Israeli lives at risk, or take out the locations which, due to their placement and the cowardly use of human shields, will kill Palestinian Arabs in the process. So Israel is left with no choice. What would you tell them to do instead?
-Israel literally warns Arab civilian populations before it hits targets in residential areas, so that they have a chance to escape death or injury. Does any other country on the face of the earth do this? Does hamas warn Israelis of when they are firing on civilian populations?
-And, finally, do you have any doubt whatsoever that, if Israel chose to do so, it could inflict major civilian casualties on Gaza? Israel has the full capability to, for example bomb Gaza city\’s main shopping district during the day when it is crowded with people. Has it ever done this – even after murderous attacks by hamas on Israelis? By contrast, would hamas hesitate for one second to hit downtown Tel Aviv if it could?
It would be nice if you folks took some of this into account in your reports. Think of it as…………..uh, journalism.
