Other than on Fox News, almost everything I’ve seen or read about Donald Trump’s meeting with vladimir putin has been negative. Putin got a great PR boost, he used Trump, made Trump look bad, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
I keep wondering whether there is any limit to the hatred of Trump displayed by most of our media, and keep seeing them exceed the previous limit. And this is another example.
What did they think Trump would accomplish in a meeting with one side of a two-side issue? Did they think putin would unilaterally agree to a ceasefire under terms Zelensky would be happy with? Can they possibly be this dumb?
Today, three days after the putin meeting, Trump will meet with Zelensky and European leaders. This will give him first-hand access to both sides. He then might – might – be in a position to put together terms that would be acceptable to both sides.
Personally, I doubt that will happen. But it could. It sure as eff isn’t going to happen with anyone else, because – another point willfully lost by our media – Trump is the ONLY world figure to get both sides talking to him. No one else.
Let’s also keep in mind that – with as minimal media coverage as these “journalists” could give it – Trump put together peace deals with – among countries – The Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, and with Armenia and Azerjbaijan. And since Trump’s significance was impossible to hide (both deals were signed in the White House with Trump sitting between the two heads of state), our media did its best by barely reporting either deal took place.
What they did report instead, relentlessly for months now, is the “issue” of Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein (without any one of them telling us what, exactly, he is accused of other than that he knew and consorted with Epstein – like every other hip Manhattanite – years and years before Epstein had any legal issues). This non-issue has generated far more reporting than both of those major peace deals combined.
And that’s before we get to his involvement in cooling down India/Pakistan and Thailand/Cambodia.
Bottom line? As the Russia/Ukraine talks progress, and media continue to bombard us with “news” about what Trump either did wrong or didn’t do at all while orchestrating/being at the center of these talks, I think it would be worthwhile to take the above observations into account.
Your call.
