BENGHAZI: THE GRAYSON BRAINSTORM

Are you into some really dark humor?

One of the regular writers at crooksandliars.com, whose screen name is “karoli”, has a brainstorm:  appoint Rep. Alan Grayson to the select committee on Benghazi.

Yep, Alan Grayson, who has been known to make lunatic-fringe comments (like for example, accusing Republicans who are against ObamaCare of wanting people to “die quickly”), and who, just a couple of months ago , had a temporary restraining order issued against him after a physical altercation with his estranged wife – the mother of his five children.

(She says he shoved and hurt her, he says she hit him, he provided a  cellphone video of her pushing or punching him, but, according to a TV report, 58 seconds of video leading up to what he showed had been redacted “to protect the children” – children whom Ms. Grayson says he has physically attacked as well.  You want to sort this out?  Be my guest).

So why is karoli champing at the bit to get him on that committee?  “He can tear Trey Gowdy and their stupid narrative to shreds with a few key questions.”

And why does she think Grayson is capable of doing so? “The pugnacious former litigator has demonstrated the exact skill set needed to cut through the Republican mythology, the work ethic necessary to fully immerse himself in the issue, and the temperament to weather the blistering attacks sure to come from the conservative media..This skill was on display in September when the congressman used his five minutes as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee to dismantle conservative Benghazi mythology while questioning Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy:

Want to see the “dismantling” karoli refers to?  Ok.  Click here for her complete blog, including the referenced video – which turns out to be a friendly colloquy with Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy – Hillary Clinton\’s boss – in which Grayson, employing his typically snide demeanor, somehow neglects to ask a thing about why there was no heightened security on 9/11, and establishes that military help could not have come fast enough to help our people, without quite mentioning that this was after-the fact knowledge – i.e. no one knew how long the attack would last until it was actually over – and that no contingency plans had been put in place despite the fact that 9/11 is the one day of the year terrorists would most like to strike the USA.

This is supposed to impress us?  Scare Trey Gowdy – a hard-nosed former prosecutor with an extraordinary record of success in court?  Yeah, ok. Sure. Count on it.

But none of this is my favorite part of the blog.  My favorite part, in fact, is not the blog itself; it is the 100+ comments from crooksandliars.com regulars, just about all of whom are salivating at the thought of their hero, Alan Grayson, making mincemeat of Republicans.  If you link to karoli\’s blog, be sure to read some of them.  I promise they won\’t be boring.

Personally, I suspect that Republicans are rooting for Alan Grayson to be on the select committee as hard as his far-left supporters are –  because they expect that the same “attributes” which the far left finds so endearing about Grayson will make him come across like a barroom loudmouth to most of the rest of us.

It certainly would be fun to watch….
