15 YEARS FOR BEING A SCHMUCK

Travel to North Korea, arguably the single most repressive hellhole on planet earth.  Schmuck

Steal something there and try to get it through North Korea’s customs.  Big shmuck

Steal something that is politically meaningful to North Korea, thus giving the lunatic running that country a rationale for making an example out of it.  Huge schmuck.

North Korea’s Supreme Court (i.e., the guys who do whatever kim jung-un tells them) has sentenced a University of Virginia college student. Otto Warmbier, to 15 years’ hard labor, because he stole a “propaganda” banner” so, he claimed, someone he knew could hang it in her church (???).

But….he would also get a used car worth $10,000 if he brought it home, and someone – the Associated Press article doesn’t say who – would give his mother $200,000 if he was caught and didn’t return.

Now, the US government – which does not even have relations with North Korea and must work through Sweden – presumably will have to get involved, and give North Korea who knows what to get this schmuck released.

I realize that college students sometimes do stupid things.  But this is light years beyond stupid.

I hope he’s proud of himself.

  • Ken, Did you see the video of him begging for leniency? After watching it you can bet this guy isn’t proud.
