Just in case the situation in The Ukraine wasn\’t bizarre enough….
…Pravda is reporting that recently deposed Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych has suddenly died of a heart attack.
This is not – repeat, not – confirmed.
But if it is true, the first question to be asked is whether his death would present some kind of rationale for Putin to maintain, or accelerate, his takeover of the Ukraine\’s Crimean peninsula…and who knows how much else (please note that I am no longer just suspecting he will do so, I am assuming it is a fait accompli).
If Yanukovych really is dead, and Putin uses the death to his advantage, why would I not also assume that Putin – whose political and journalistic enemies have always had a habit of prematurely dying – had something to do with it? under the right circumstances a dead ally can be as useful as a dead enemy.
If this is a hoax, of course, forget the whole thing.
But if it isn\’t, let\’s remember who and what Putin is.
