Did you know that we are on the cusp of a very significant tenth anniversary?
It is just about the tenth anniversary since Al Gore, that prophet of Global Warming Climate Change whatever he\’s calling it right now depending on the temperature, told us that the world was pretty much going to end….in ten years.
If you are reading this, I will assume out of hand that you disagree about that end of the world thingie.
Fraud: Ten years ago Monday, Al Gore said we hadonly a decade left to save the planet from global warming. But Earth has beendoing just fine. Why do we listen to this man?
While preening at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2006during the premiere of his “An Inconvenient Truth” fib-umentary, Gore made hisgrand declaration. The former vice president said, in the words of the APreporter taking down his story, that “unless drastic measures to reducegreenhouse gases are taken within the next 10 years, the world will reach apoint of no return.” In Gore\’s own words, he claimed we were in “a trueplanetary emergency.”
Ten years later, he\’s probably hoping that everyone hasforgotten about his categorical statement.
The terrible truth for Gore is that there is no planetaryemergency. Not one of the dire predictions he and the rest of the alarmistcommunity made has come to pass. In fact, there is plenty of evidence that theyhave been running a racket. Here\’s how we know:
Nothing I am aware of in the annals of history has instilled more fright in more people, caused more ridiculous political actions which cost more quality of life….and generated a greater outpouring of grant money (which, I am suspecting, is at the heart of it all) for something which has been less proven by actual events.
But be assured that, at least for the near term, the scare tactics will continue, the politically correct “actions” will continue…and that grant money will continue to flow.
After all, this is important. Al Gore told us so, didn\’t he?
One other thing, in the form of a note to IBD: that “An Inconvenient Truth fibumentary” line is great.
