Today\’s quote comes to us from Chris Matthews – who, over the years, has become an increasingly rich (maybe poor is the right word) source of scratch-your-head-and-wonder-what-planet-he\’s-on commentary).
This time, it has to do with the views of Ted Cruz and Chris Christie regarding ISIS – you know, those nice folks who hate us for who we are, kill people by the thousands, and intend to take over the world to make it as hate-filled, murderous and intolerant of anything but hate, murder and tolerance as they are.
Says Chris:
Republicans now say it\’s OK to hate Muslims. I mean, when you hear carpet bombing, there\’s no way to hear that from [Sen. Ted] Cruzwithout knowing a lot of regular people that just happen to live in thosegeographical areas will die because you\’re carpet bombing. You\’re not goingafter the bad guys, you\’re killing everybody that\’s there.
And also, animals! I mean, call them what they are,bad people. But what\’s this animal thing that Christie\’s throwing around?
Ted Cruz says that we should carpet-bomb ISIS strongholds – i.e. the places where they use civilians as human shields so they won\’t be taken out….the places where it is an excellent bet that they have already killed everyone who does not agree with them.
This is a problem to Chris Matthews?
And – oh, the horror, oh the humanity – Chris Christie has the temerity to call these animals “animals”??? Boil him in oil! Doesn\’t that nasty Christie guy know they are just “bad people”?
One other thing: I wonder if, in his opaque world, Matthews will ever see that, when he tells us that supporting the carpet bombing of ISIS terrorists, and calling them animals, means “Republicans now say it\’s OK to hate Muslims”, he is saying, in so many words, that there is no difference between Muslims who support ISIS and Muslims who revile them and wish they were neutralized — that, in his world, “ISIS, non-ISIS, if you\’ve seen one Muslim, you\’ve seen \’em all.”
I award Chris Matthews Quote Of The Day honors, for showing us that, no matter how far off the deep end we may think he\’s gone, he can always find an even deeper spot.
