CHUCK SCHUMER: THE DEMISE IS JUST ABOUT COMPLETE

It’s all falling apart for Chuck Schumer.

His “leadership” during last year’s election (along with the other geriatric Democrat “leaders”) wound up handing control of the country back to Donald Trump.

More recently, his support (yes, he criticized it..but he supported it) for the Continuing Resolution that kept the country going for another 6 months, however politically practical it might have been, made him a no-holds-barred target of the hard left…..a movement Schumer did little or nothing to prevent as it burgeoned over the last few years and now pretty much rules his party.

But Schumer always had a safe port among the Jewish population.  After all, he’s a Jew, they’re Jews, and…….

…..except he may well have lost that too.

Aliza Licht is an author, podcast host…and Jewish activist who has become infuriated with what she (with very good reason) sees as Schumer’s “do the most politically safe thing at the moment, regardless of beliefs or integrity” position on Israel.  And she has written an extremely angry analysis, titled “Why Charles Schumer is the Senator of Chutzpah”, explaining why.

Here is how it begins:

The only thing Chuck Schumer knows about antisemitism is how to spread it. Since the Hamas attack on Israel two October ago, Schumer — the senior senator from New York — has systematically ignored the rapid rise of Jew-hatred across America and obstructed any attempt to mitigate it.

Oh, but don’t worry — his new book, “Antisemitism in America: A Warning” will save us!

Thank God for Chuck; without him, Jews would have no idea anything terrible was going on. For someone who is the self-proclaimed “guardian” of the Jewish people (he loves saying that), Schumer sure has a funny way of showing it.

Schumer flaunts his Jewish identity only when it’s comfortable and convenient, like in keynote speeches at synagogues. But his faith is missing in action everywhere else.

In March 2024, as then-Senate majority leader, he put on his proverbial keffiyeh, pounded his fists, and demanded new elections in Israel, blaming Prime Minister Netanyahu as the “obstacle to peace” amid the fighting in Gaza. Forget the fact that Israel is at war for literal survival.

When encampments at Columbia University — along with their accompanying violence, vandalism, and harassment of Jewish students — came to a boiling point in April, Schumer should have rushed to bring the Antisemitism Awareness Act to a vote on the Senate floor after the House overwhelmingly passed it via a bipartisan vote of 320-91 in May. But nah.

How delusional does Schumer need to be to write a book on antisemitism when he’s single-handedly stonewalled the bill that would adopt the most widely recognized definition of antisemitism in the world?

So what are we left with?

Other than the hardest of hard-line Democrats; the ones who will support any party candidate; period, who likes or wants this guy?

At one time, Chuck Schumer was seen as a key, even revered, Democrat Party leader with a decades-long record of productive service.  But in recent years, as he has become more and more of a political hack, his standing has fallen dramatically.

Now, as he tries to placate both the extreme leftists and the less-and-less-valued moderates of his party, Schumer has managed to become unacceptable to both of them.

And even his once-rock solid Jewish base, if Ms. Licht’s article is any indication, is in the process of being lost.

What a sad, pathetic demise for a career that spans almost half a century.  And worse still, the reasons for that demise are entirely self-inflicted.
