Today’s quote comes to us from Nathan Hochman, the newly elected District Attorney of Los Angeles.
As you may be aware, Hochman replaced previous DA george gascón – whose actions to defund the police and propensity for looking the other way at criminal activity resulted in usually ultra-liberal Angelinos giving Hochman 61.5% of the versus 38.5% for gascón.
Now, after two months on the job, this is his personal assessment:
“Public safety was the crossover issue and still is…”
“Law enforcement understands now that if they build up good cases, they are not going to be rejected because of the political agenda of the DA. Victim groups understand that we’re back to supporting them. The public understands that we need a rebalancing, that we haven’t done a drastic shift from one end of the pendulum to the other, and that we are back to figuring out the correct balance that prioritizes public safety but also seeks to introduce real and effective criminal justice reform.”
Assuming his self-analysis is accurate, I award Nathan Hochman Quote Of The Day honors for telling us he is acting like an Attorney General should, not like the hard left fantasizes a District Attorney should.
It is actually scary to note that this assessment is no longer a generic description of what a District Attorney is supposed to do. The george gascón concept of law enforcement is still being practiced by District Attorneys all over the country – many, if not most, financed by george soros.
May they, too, be replaced by people like Nathan Hochman. Every one of them.
