BERNIE\’S SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT HILLARY\’S EMAILS

Ken Berwitz

What a difference a drop in the polls makes.

Remember that last Democrat debate, when Bernie Sanders thrilled the crowd – and most especially his rival Hillary Clinton – by saying enough already with the damn emails?

Well, that was then and this is now.

Now, after media proclaimed Ms. Clinton the “winner” of that debate (I put “winner” in quotation marks because most of the polls showed that people thought Sanders won), and after media proclaimed her “triumphant” in the House Oversight Committee hearings on benghazi (I put “triumphant” in quotation marks because, in order to do so, media had to look the other way as Ms. Clinton told one blatant lie after another)….

….Mr. Sanders has seen his leads in Iowa and New Hampshire – along with his serious challenge nationally – disappear,

He\’s feeling “the bern”, and it is right on his butt.

So, having seen the way media turned Hillary Clinton\’s debate loss into a win, and her lie-a-thon at the Benghazi hearings into a triumph, suddenly that mulligan on the emails doesn\’t seem like such a great idea after all.

Excerpted from Rebecca Shabad\’s article at CBS News:

Sen. Bernie Sanders isshifting away from comments he made about Hillary Clinton\’s personal emailaccount at the first Democratic presidential debate when he said voters are”sick and tired” hearing about her “damn emails.”

“You get 12seconds to say these things,” he said in an interview with the WallStreet Journal about his original comments at the Oct. 13 debate.

But Sanders indicatedin the interview that he didn\’t intend to give Clinton a free pass.

“There\’s aninvestigation going on right now. I did not say, \’End the investigation.\’That\’s silly….Let the investigation proceed unimpeded,” he said.

Sanders said there are”valid questions” if her email account compromised classifiedinformation or foiled public records requests.

Uh……oh, okay.

Don\’t you love it when someone tries to walk back a comment that was crystal clear at the time it was made?

When Bernie Sanders was flying high, he had the luxury of being magnanimous about those emails.  Now that he\’s flying low…and still dropping….suddenly magnanimity needs an oil change.

It should be interesting to see where this goes.  I\’ll be watching, and try to let you know what happens.
