AND IF IT WERE KAMALA HARRIS INSTEAD?

Up to this point, my opinion of Kamala Harris is that she is a flyweight with little or no depth, whose political career would not exist were it not for her bedroom activities with California kingmaker Willie Brown.

As Vice President she has accomplished nothing I am aware of.  Absolutely nothing.

In her most important assigned role – that of the “border czar” – she has been nonexistant for three and a half years.  The only thing she has accomplished, so far as I know, is making mindless, third-grade quality comments and laughing like a hyena.

But is this unfair?  Is there some level of depth that I am missing?

Well, the opinion of her fellow Democrats isn’t much of a test, is it?  I mean, these are the people who start out rooting for her, so even if she isn’t much they’ll probably figure out some rationale for saying she is.

Unless….unless she is so bad that even they can’t fake it.

With the above in mind, read the following excerpts from Theodore Schleifer and Lisa Lerer’s article for the (Biden/Harris supporting, Trump hating) New York Times:

Vice President Kamala Harris tried to buck up the Democratic Party’s biggest donors on Friday, telling about 300 of them that there was little to worry about in President Biden’s campaign.

Ms. Harris spoke to the group at a time of extraordinary turmoil among Democrats, with many hoping that she will replace Mr. Biden as the party’s nominee. But several listeners said they found the meeting overall to be of little value and even, at times, condescending, believing that the message ignored donors’ legitimate concerns about the Biden-led ticket.

Ms. Harris, speaking by video for just over five minutes, reiterated some well-worn attack lines on former President Donald J. Trump. She pointed to his hollow call for unity at the Republican National Convention this week and the threat of Project 2025, the far-reaching policy proposals pushed by his allies. She spoke only briefly about Mr. Biden, listeners said, and did not take questions.

Translation:  all she did was recite a few of the nursed-and-rehearsed attack lines that Democrats have developed and are reciting to media, and then get lost.

If/when Joe Biden is gone, THIS is who Democrats are going to put up as their standard-bearer?  THIS is who they want our country to have as the commander-in-chief of our armed forces?  THIS is who they want holding the nuclear codes?

To call this scary is to grossly understate.

And what if Biden is gone and they pick someone else (other than Michelle Obama, who – at least so far – says she wants no part of it)?  Can you even begin to imagine the howls of fury from the uber-woke wing of the Democrat Party (which is largely in control right now) if, say, a White male candidate is pushed ahead of her?

It is very unusual for Republicans to be the party looking at major-league turmoil on the other side.  But this is one of those rare times.

I wonder how long it will last, what will happen next.  But, it seems obvious that I – and you – won’t have to wonder for long.

I can’t wait.
