…here is how Donald Trump’s competitor, President Joe Biden, is doing in the latest grouping of polls, as compiled by nonpartisan poll aggregator site, realclearpolitics.com:
Nationwide: Trump +3.0%
In the so-called “swing states:
-Arizona: Trump +6.0%
-Georgia: Trump +4.0%
-Michigan: Trump +1.7%
-Nevada: Trump +5.1%
-North Carolina: Trump +5.7%
-Pennsylvania: Trump +4.5%
-Wisconsin: Trump +3.3%
Are polls always accurate? To say the least, no. Are they subject to change? To say the least, yes. But this is where they are now.
If you are a Biden fan, you can rationalize that the reason for these beyond-awful results is that your hero is being attacked by his own party, and if the attacks stop the polls will turn around in his favor.
If you are a Biden non-fan you can rationalize that the reason for these beyond-awful results is that, despite being unfit to run for re-election he will not give the nomination up to someone more electable, and if/when he does the polls will turn around in his favor.
But what neither of these two factions can dispute is, whatever the reasons, national polls say – loudly – that, as of now, Biden is a loser. A big one.
So the questions remain:
-Will Biden stay the Democrat candidate? Can he stay the Democrat candidate?
-If he is replaced, who will replace him?
-Will the fact that he is replaced heal, or expand even further the civil war within the party?
-And will the replacement perform better, as well or even worse among voters?
The bottom line? This doesn’t happen very often…
…but, given that Republicans have just nominated Donald Trump during a very successful, very cohesive national convention, while the Democrat civil war continues to boil over with intensity…
…comparatively speaking, it is very good to be a Republican.
