Can someone tell me how, in less than three years, Paul Ryan went from being the Democrat Party\’s idea of a conservative nut job, to being their enthusiastic choice as Speaker of the House?
One look at the ratings given Ryan by various political groups shows that, other than his position on illegal aliens (which is somewhere in the middle, not pleasing either side very much), his voting record is, and always has been, flat-out hardline conservative.
Can it be that Democrats assume they\’ll get a conservative speaker no matter what, and the best they can do is get one who will make it easier for illegals – whom, they figure, will be vastly more Democrat than Republican – to eventually become citizens? Possibly.
