HOPING YOU ARE STUPID/IGNORANT/PARTISAN ENOUGH…

As I assume you know, President Biden has taken to informing the country that inflation was at 9% when he took office, and he’s “reduced” it to the mid-3’s.

That is a 100% lie.  The month Biden took office inflation was at 1.4%.  It didn’t hit 9% until Biden’s damage to the fossil fuel industry and deficit spending spree sent it there in June of 2022, a year and a half later.

On Wednesday, Fox News Channel’s Neil Cavuto inverviewed Jared Bernstein, who chairs Biden’s Council of Economic Advisers.  Cavuto asked him about this.

Here is how the conversation went:

CAVUTO: Why does Biden keep claiming inflation was 9% when he took office — when it was actually 1.4%?

BERNSTEIN: “The president talked about how concerned he was for households struggling with prices.”

CAVUTO: “That’s not what I asked you. Why does he keep misrepresenting this?”

BERNSTEIN: “He’s making the point that the factors that caused inflation to climb to 9% were in place when he took office.”

CAVUTO: “That’s not what he said! He said it was 9%!”

BERNSTEIN: “The annual growth in core inflation in the second quarter of ’21 was, in fact, about 9%…”

CAVUTO: “No it wasn’t — it was not at that! You’re almost as bad as he is.”

As you can see, facts not withstanding, the lie stays in place.

What are Bernstein, and Biden, hoping?

They are hoping enough voters are too stupid, and/or too ignorant, and/or too partisan, to notice, or care, about the fact that they are lying about the inflation rate.

And, sad to say, they’ll be right about a great many of us.  I hope you’re not one of them.

Oh, one other thing:  in case you think that the 1.4% inflation rate Biden inherited from Trump was some short-term anomaly…

…the single highest inflation rate we had over the entire four year period of Trump’s presidency was a two month period when it was 2.9%.  And it was below 2% for the last 10 months prior to Biden becoming President.  That is what Biden inherited.

And then…

…three months after Biden became President, with the keystone pipeline dead, drilling leases at a virtual standstill, our southern border rendered nonexistent and deficit spending well underway, it had already jumped to 4.2%, on its way to 9%.

Doubt me?  Here are the data.  See for yourself.

I will end with a suggestion for Jared Bernstein and the rest of the Biden team:  maybe it isn’t such a good idea to come on Fox News Channel.  They might ask you serious questions there.  Stick to CNN, MSNBC and maybe The View.  You’ll be much more comfortable.
