Today’s quote comes to us from Gretchen Whitmer, the Governor of Michigan and, at least until now, a rising star in the Democrat Party.
During yesterday’s edition of Meet The Press, host Kristen Welker asked Governor Whitmer whether Joe Biden’s policies/actions/statements regarding Israel might cost him Michigan (which has the highest percentage of Arab voters in the country) in the upcoming election.
Here is what she had to say:
“The state of Michigan is always going to be a close race, no matter what, under what scenario. I will share, though, as I’ve had conversations with people both in my Jewish community and in the Arab American and Muslim and Palestinian community, that a lot of people are hurting right now. A lot of people are one degree of separation from someone who’s lost their lives, whether it was on October 7, or is in the war in Gaza.
“And so I’m trying to keep an open dialogue to stay focused on how we support these beautiful diverse communities here in Michigan.”
Not a word about the October 7 attack that precipitated the war in Gaza. Not a word about the hate-rallies in Michigan where Arab crowds chanted “Death to Israel! Death to America!” Nothing.
I award Gretchen Whitmer Quote Of The Day “honors” for showing us that carefully created political statements are more important to her than speaking against people who demand the annihilation of the country she lives in, and one of our most important allies (maybe the single most important, given the shared intelligence and military technology) in the world.
That’s some “rising star”, let me tell you.
