THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

The previous blog pointed out what an uninformed loudmouth Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is.

Speaking of polar opposites, today\’s quote comes to us from another Republican presidential candidate – Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

Here is what Mr. Rubio said about Russia and Syria, during the September 16th debate:

“It\’s pretty straightforward.  [Putin] wants to reposition Russia, once again, as a geopolitical force … He\’strying to destroy NATO. And this is what this is a part of. He is exploiting avacuum that this administration has left in the Middle East. Here\’s what you\’regoing to see in the next few weeks: the Russians will begin to fly combatmissions in that region, not just targeting ISIS, but in order to prop upAssad. He will also, then, turn to other countries in the region and say, \’Americais no longer a reliable ally, Egypt. America is no longer a reliable ally,Saudi Arabia. Begin to rely on us.\’

“What he isdoing is he is trying to replace us as the single most important power brokerin the Middle East, and this president is allowing it.”

That, readers, is exactly what has happened.

Did Marco Rubio consult a fortune teller?  Does he have his own crystal ball?  Or is it that, as someone who has senatorial experience with foreign affairs and a clear understanding of the situation as it is rather than as we\’d like it to be, he read things 100% correctly?

I don\’t know about you, but I\’m picking door #3.

Marco Rubio wins Quote Of The Day honors for his perfect analysis – before it happened – of what Russia would do, how it would position its actions, and why it stands an excellent chance of succeeding.

One other thing:  this is the same Marco Rubio who Donald Trump called “a clown”.

If he\’s a crown, what does that make Trump?
