Russian media are reporting that a plane carryng 10 people (three crew, 7 passengers) has either crashed or been shot down (video makes it look near certain that it was shot down). There are no survivors.
And they are reporting that one of the passengers was yevgeny prigozhin, head of the military/mercenary Wagner Group and enemy of his former client (in The Ukraine), vladimir putin,
First things first: this is not – repeat, NOT – confirmed.
Let’s also remember that prigozhin, no doubt due in part to the common knowledge that putin’s enemies, whether military, political or journalistic, have a habit of dying violently, is believed to have body doubles – maybe one of them was on the plane.
But, nonetheless, this is what Russian media are reporting. And as long as putin is in power, killings like this happen regularly.
I will end by pointing out that if yevgeny prigozhin is not one of the fatalities, putin better beware. prigozhin is as violent/murderous as putin. And even if the reports are accurate and he is dead, Wagner Group troops loyal to him might want to wreak vengeance.
