How bad is it in Chicago?
Bad enough so that a community group is imploring gangs to restrict their shootings to 12 hours a day instead of the current 24.
When I saw the title of this article by Awr Hawkins at breitbart.com – “Chicago Group Asks Gang Members Not to Shoot People Between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.” – I thought it was satire. But, as you will see from the following excerpt, it is anything but:
Native Sons, a group from Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, is asking that gang members pledge to cease fire from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily so no one lives in fear of being shot while going about their day-to-day activities.
Native Sons’ co-founder, Tatiana Atkins, said:
Under this ordinance, we ask that people stop associating with and glorifying ‘shooters,’ stop glorifying ‘switches,’ and stop wearing those ski masks everywhere which perpetuates you as some ‘opp.’ When those who live a certain lifestyle try to hang with ‘regular’ class citizens, they put everyone at risk.

At the end of the day, five-year-olds are being killed by gun violence, 14-year-olds are being killed by gun violence, 78-year-olds are being killed by gun violence, pregnant women are being killed by gun violence, young boys with bright futures are being killed by gun violence, fathers are being killed by gun violence, and this shouldn’t be happening.
Can you believe it? Things have become so bad in Chicago, police have been reduced to so low a degree of effectiveness, that a local group has to beg violent street gangs to – presumably out of the goodness of their hearts, I suppose – only turn their neighborhoods into shooting galleries between 9:00PM and 9:00AM.
Congratulations to former Mayor Lori Lightfoot, and current Mayor Brandon Johnson, for perpetuating the insane attitudes and policies that have taken Chicago down to this beyond-ugly level. I hope you’re proud of yourselves.
But be sure to blame someone else for it.
Hey, how about Republicans? That’s what Democrats often do, so maybe it’ll work for Chicago. After all, you did have a Republican Mayor, His name was William Hale “Big Bill” Thompson, and he was Mayor as recently as…..er…..uh…..well, 1931.
On the other hand, better try and come up with something a little more salable. Heck, based on the city’s recent voting history, there are sure to still be plenty of people who will believe you.
