Today\’s quote comes to us from Vice President Joe Biden, who, it seems more and more clear, is paving the way for a presidential run that would give Democrats a flawed, but serious, alternative to the disastrous, self-immolating Hillary Clinton.
Mr. Biden, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, speaking at a memorial for the five U.S. Marines who were killed last month by the radicalized Islamic lunatic muhammad youssef abdulazeez, said this:
“These perverse ideologues, warped theocrats, they may be able to inspire a single lone wolf to commit a savage act, but they can never, never threaten who we are. When this perverted jihadist struck, everyone responded.”
Is Mr. Biden correct in saying that perverse ideologues and warped theocrats can never threaten who we are? I wish I were a lot more confident in that assessment than I actually am.
But his plain talk – no dancing, no clever “I can get out of this if you challenge me” wordsmithing – is so refreshing, and so far from what comes out of Ms. Clinton, that Joe Biden wins Quote Of The Day honors simply for showing us that there is a Democrat candidate other than Bernie Sanders who, regardless of whether you like his positions, is at least capable of straight-talking about them.
