MEDIA BIAS AT ITS FINEST: CORY BOOKER AND THE IRAN “DEAL”

Here are the first two paragraphs of Jonathan D. Salant\’s article in today\’s Newark Star-Ledger, about the dilemma Senator Cory Booker faces as he decides whether to vote for or against the nuclear “deal” cooked up by President Obama and John Kerry:

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Cory Booker faces a familiar dilemma: Side with President Obama or the pro-Israel community that gave him more money during the 2014 election than any other member of Congress.

Booker has yet to decide whether to vote for the agreement with Iran that would curb its nuclear program for at least 10 years in exchange for removing economic sanctions.

Please notice that Salant\’s reference to the Iran “dea” states, definitively, that it would “curb its nuclear program for atl east 10 years”.

Not “is designed to curb”, not “the Obama administration contends will curb”, not “it is hoped, will curb”, but “would curb”.  No doubt about it.  No doubt that a terrorist government which has spent its 36 years in power regularly breaching agreements at will, and has lied continuously about its nuclear program, will unequivocally, undoubtedly, unquestionably adhere to this one.

That, by itself, would be bad enough.  But there is more.

Salant is also telling us in so many words, that the only two choices are with President Obama or with “the pro-Israel community”.  Not with President Obama or with opponents of the deal – opponents who might primarily have U.S. interests in mind, or see the issue in more global terms, given that Arab countries on the Persian Gulf are just as worried about Iran as Israel.  No, no no.  This description specifically pits our government against the Jewish state.

Just what Israel haters would want it to.

And if there were any doubt about Mr. Salant\’s intentions, consider the article\’s headline:  “N.J.\’s Cory Booker caught between Obama and Israel backers on Iran deal”.

If you want a clearer demonstration of media bias at its finest, I suggest you prepare yourself for a difficult task.  Because it is going to be hard to find a clearer one than this.
