Donald Trump\’s egomania is truly something to behold.
In terms of degree, Trump\’s comment, during Thursday\’s debate, that no one would be talking about immigration if it weren\’t for him was the single most extreme example. Right, Donald, who ever spoke about immigration until you? People all over the country are nodding agreement and telling each other “Yep, I never heard a thing about immigration until that wonderful Mr. Trump informed me it was an issue”.
But the sheer number of examples comes so hard and fast that it is difficult to keep up.
To illustrate, here is most of an article by Elliot Smilowitz of thehill.com which cites just a few minutes\’ worth of comments Trump made to CNN\’s Don Lemon after the debate – in rust, with my comments in blue:
“I\’m not saying I won, I\’m just telling you polls that came out from Drudge,” he said. “What\’s better than Drudge? He\’s a fantastic guy. What he\’s built is unbelievably respected.” And if, in the next week or two, Drudge leads with a few stories that criticize/attack you? What will you say about him then? You have a rich history of kissing up to people who say good things about you and viciously attacking people who don\’t. It\’s never about them. It\’s always about you.
In contrast, the businessman panned a focus group run by pollster Frank Luntz immediately after the debate on Fox News.
Trump said Luntz “kept calling” him, trying to convince the candidate to do business with Luntz.
“I told him no. And now every time I see a poll, it\’s negative,” he said. “The guy\’s a lightweight.” Translation: Luntz\’s research is showing that not everyone loves Trump – so he came begging to Trump for work but Trump turned him down and suddenly the findings are negative – the implication being that Luntz has altered data because Trump didn\’t toss him a crumb or to…and, oh, by the way, Luntz is a lightweight. Does anyone seriously think Trump took a series of calls from Frank Luntz telling him no over and over again? Or that Luntz, would compromise his career and reputation to fudge findings and make Trump look bad? Oh, brother.
Elsewhere in the CNN interview, Trump again ripped debate moderator and Fox News host Megyn Kelly, calling her “highly overrated.” Translation: she asked tough questions…which she did of everyone in the debate. But Trump\’s ego could not withstand him being included.
“She gets out and starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions,” Trump told Lemon. “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her – wherever.” Blood coming out of her wherever? Megyn Kelly is a woman who presumably is still menstruating. What do you suppose that meant? Is that Trump\’s idea of diplomacy? His brilliant alternative to “She must have had the rag on”? Very classy, Donald. And, for the record, Kelly\’s challenge to your claim that the only woman you ever publicly insulted was Rosie O\’Donnell was correct. Your claim that O\’Donnell was the only one is a load of crap. And even if had been true, it certainly isn\’t after your disgusting comments about Ms. Kelly.
Trump complimented Lemon and CNN for their coverage of his campaign, and claimed partial credit for the network\’s gains against Fox News.
“You guys are making a lot of progress thanks to me. Your ratings are way up because you\’re covering Trump all the time,” he said. Incredible. this egomaniac thinks CNN – which has improved its viewership a good deal but still is nowhere remotely close to Fox\’s – did it all because of HIM? HE\’S the reason? It had nothing to do with CNN\’s programming changes and the dropoff of MSNBC viewership, which sent viewers to CNN instead? If something good happened, it\’s because of him. Always him. Him him him.
Trump suggested he “should get a piece” of CNN\’s profits – specifically, “25 percent.” Ditto for my last comment. Always him. Him him him. Did MSNBC cover Trump too? How come those guys didn\’t improve their ratings? I\’ll wait for an answer that I will never get.
He took parting shots at Fox News as the interview wrapped up, claiming the network has been “inundated” with social media complaints for his treatment at the debate.
“I was told by somebody at Fox that they\’ve never seen anything like it,” he said. Sure “someone” told him. That\’s a very busy “someone”…because, if you listen to Trump, the same “someone” continually surfaces just about every time he spouts one of his self-stated superlatives, and tells him about it. “Someone” always seems to be telling Trump that, until him, whatever is being talked about never happened before, or never happened as much or never happened as well, or….well, you get the idea. He\’s bigger than life. He\’s DONALD TRUMP.
This egomanical delusionary wants to be President? I\’ll just bet that “someone” thinks he would be the greatest one of them all.
Thank God that this is never ever going to happen
How do I know this? “Someone” told me.
