This latest installment of Real Racism comes to us from Mayor – soon to be ex-Mayor I hope – patrick rushing, of Airway Heights – a suburb of Spokane Washington.
rushing is being pressured to resign, but refuses to do so on the grounds that, if he did, it would suggest he said something racist which, according to him, he did not.
Here, for the record, is his “non-racist” comment, about Michelle and Barack Obama – which this genius posted on facebook:
“Gorilla face Michelle, can\’t disagree with that. The woman is not attractive except to monkey man Barack. Check out them ears. LOL.”
That, folks, is patrick rushing\’s idea of not being a racist. Is it yours?
Even if you could find someone delusional enough to contort a rationale for claiming that what rushing said was not racist, how about the fact that he was stupid enough to post it on facebook? That, by itself, would be enough to send him packing.
On the theory that there are decent people in Airway Heights, Washington, I hope they quickly band together and show this paragon of tolerance the way out of the Mayor\’s office.
Real racism. It comes in all forms from all sources. No one is immune to it or from it. Certainly not a town Mayor who can\’t figure out what\’s wrong with calling a Black woman “gorilla face” and her husband a “monkey”.
