First a couple of Hillary Clinton quotes:
“I\’m very proud of the role I\’ve played in building the coalition and the sanctions that brought Iran to the negotiating table.”
“As Secretary of State, I logged tens of thousands of miles and twisted a lot of arms to build a global coalition to impose the most crippling sanctions in history. That unprecedented pressure delivered a blow to Iran\’s economy and gave us leverage at the negotiating table, starting in Oman in 2012. I know from experience what it took to build a global effort to get this done; I know what it will take to rally our partners to enforce it.”
Now a little reality:
-The original sanctions were imposed in 2007, when George Bush was President;
-The enhanced sanctions were imposed in 2010. Barack Obama, to his credit, had a lot to do with them. But Hillary Clinton? Even the Wikipedia entry (note: my experience is that when Wikipedia leans, it leans Democrat), which provides a timeline of how the sanctions came to be with extensive detail regarding who did what, does not so much as mention Hillary Clinton, let alone any significant involvement she had in their implementation. Personally, I\’m betting that this little oversight is going to be taken care of very soon. We can\’t have Hillary not taking credit for the sanctions, can we?
In short, Clinton is trying to tie her time as Secretary of State to this “deal” – which is a complete fraud.
And let\’s also note that her statement endorsing the deal has a bunch of caveats in it.
“Based on the briefings I received and a review of the documents, I support the agreement because it can help us prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. With vigorous enforcement, unyielding verification, and swift consequences for any violations, this agreement can make the United States, Israel, and our Arab partners safer.”
In other words, if it works it\’s my doing. If it doesn\’t work, someone else screwed up on the enforcement, and/or verification, and/or swift consequences, not me.
Do you really want this in the White House for four seconds, let alone four, maybe eight, years?
