Following is a back-and-forth which occurred yesterday between CNN host Don Lemon and Donald Trump, centering around a statistic from an article in “Fusion” (which, fascinatingly, is put out by Univision) estimating that 80% of the central American females illegally transported across the Mexican border to the USA are raped along the way (no, that is not a typo. The article estimates that 80% are raped).
LEMON: That is about women being raped, it is not about criminals coming across the order and entering the country.
TRUMP: Somebody is doing the raping, Don. Are you saying its women being raped? Who is doing the raping?
That\’s a fair question, Don (Lemon). Who is doing the raping?
Donald Trump has a nasty habit of saying things in an abrasive, wildly-over-the-top way. It is the kind of behavior that works when you\’re “the boss” and your authority is unquestioned…but what does not work at all in politics.
But that doesn\’t mean that there is at least some element of truth to what he says.
I have a great idea: since Trump is being crucified for saying that Mexico is facilitating a flow of rapists and drug dealers into the country ( he did NOT say all Mexicans were guilty of these behaviors), how about the Obama administration issuing statistics of how many illegals are currently in our prison system….and what they have been convicted of.
If Trump is wrong, that will prove it.
Then again, if he\’s right………..
hmmmmmmmmm, maybe that\’s why the statistics haven\’t been issued.
I wonder.
