If you have not heard about this yet, it\’s going to blow your socks off.
Here are the first four paragraphs of (the invaluable) Kevin Rector\’s article, writing for the Baltimore Sun:
About three weeks before Freddie Gray was chased from a West Baltimore corner by three Baltimore police officers – the start of a fatal encounter – the office of prosecutor Marilyn Mosby asked police to target the intersection with “enhanced” drug enforcement efforts, court documents show.
“State\’s Attorney Mosby asked me to look into community concerns regarding drug dealing in the area of North Ave and Mount St,” Joshua Rosenblatt, division chief of Mosby\’s Crime Strategies Unit, wrote in a March 17 email to a Western District police commander.
The email was disclosed for the first time Tuesday in a motion filed in Baltimore Circuit Court by defense attorneys for the six officers being prosecuted in Gray\’s arrest and death. The attorneys said Mosby\’s involvement in the police initiative means that she should be removed from the case.
“Mrs. Mosby herself is now an integral part of the story and as such is a central witness,” the defense attorneys argued. “This is a case where the witness and the prosecutor are one and the same.”
Incredible.
Can it be that the actions police officers took in arresting Freddie Gray – who, let\’s never forget, had a long history of arrests for drug-related issues and had already served jail time – were at the specific behest of marilyn mosby\’s own office???????
Is it possible that, in addition to being an incompetent and a hypocrite, mosby also has direct involvement in the actions she is intent on trying the Baltimore 6 for?
Should she be the prosecutor….
or a witness for the defense who would answer to why the officers were aggressively patrolling that area….
or a defendant who has material responsibility for the actions they took?
Just when you think this story could not get more bizarre, it does. And who knows that it won\’t get still more bizarre in the future? Would you bet against it?
My congratulations to the citizens of Baltimore. You elected a Mayor who gives street thugs “space to destroy”, and you elected a State\’s Attorney who first overcharges the police, then refuses to show the weapon he allegedly was carrying, then misreads the law regarding its legality, then claims he was arrested before the knife was found which turned out to be untrue, then tried to place a gag order on the defense attorneys but had it thrown out because her motion was filed in the wrong court….and now this.
Way to go guys. What will you do for an encore? Put Moe, Larry and Curly in charge of the City Council….or have you done that already?
