Would you have believed that a man named Ahmed Zayat, who owns a horse named American Pharoah*, would be Jewish – and observantly Jewish at that?
Well, unless this is the greatest hoax in horseracing history, it happens to be true. Zayat comes from a prominent Egyptian Jewish family.
The horse, I assume, is not Jewish…though, if it is, that must have been one helluva payday for the mohel…..
