THE PARAGRAPH OF THE DAY

Today\’s paragaph – and it would be a howler if it were not so incredibly fraudulent – comes to us from David McCabe, writing for thehillcom.

Mr. McCabe put up a blog about Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) denying that the problems in Baltimore had anything to do with Democrat political leaders, and placing the blame squarely on Washington D.C.

McCabe was nice enough to help Mr. Cummings along with this astoundingly fraudulent claim, by telling his readers:,

Some conservatives have suggested that Baltimore, where riots broke out last week over police mistreatment of minorities, is the result of failed liberal policies. Baltimore last had a Republican mayor in 1967.

That\’s it?  “some conservatives”?

In other words, David McCabe is telling us that no one on the left, no one in the center, and not even most Republicans…just “some” of those conservatives (and we all know what they\’re about) suggest Baltimore\’s current condition is the result of “failed liberal policies”.  Incredibly, McCabe doesn\’t even mention the Democrat Party here, even though the basis for his entire blog is Elijah Cummings\’ defense of it.

A little information for David McCabe…and anyone who takes him seriously:

-From 1969 through 2014, there has been exactly one Republican Governor of Maryland, who served one term.  That\’s Democrats for 42 years out of the last 46;

-The last Republican Mayor of Baltimore, Theodore McKeldin, left office in 1967.  That\’s nothing but Democrats for the past 48 years.

-The last Republican member of the Baltimore City Council, Daniel Ellison, left office in 1942.  That\’s nothing but Democrats for the past 73 years.

Put another way, blaming Republicans for what happened to Baltimore is like crediting Lawrence Welk for rap.

Anyone who thinks that the only people laying Baltimore\’s current status on Democrats are “some conservatives” is either as dense as a double-load of asbestos…..or acting as a Democrat apologist, not a journalist.

I award David McCabe Paragraph Of The Day honors because he made me laugh.  It was due to a combination of amazement and disgust …but, hey, a laugh is a laugh, right?
