Few things rally the hard left more than its hatred “winners”. The working premise is that the losers are oppressed by someone and the winners must, therefore be oppressing them.
And no country (other than possibly the USA – even there I\’m not sure) stirs hatred than Israel: an oasis of freedom, democracy and achievement in an area populated by countries which offer little or none of those three salutary attributes.
Yesterday, on “Morning Joe”, host Joe Scarborough (who, despite his Republican background, tends to be all over the lot depending on which issue is being discussed) took on co-host Mika Brzezinski (who seems to have learned well from her Israel-hating, Jew-hating father zbigniew and his boss, President carter) on the issue of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu accepting Speaker John Boehner\’s invitation to address congress, the stakes involved in his doing so, and what it will mean if Democrats – evidently there may be a lot of them – boycott that address:
Here is the video, pulled from talkingpointsmemo.com:
I often disagree with Joe Scarborough. But not here. Here, he has nailed it perfectly.
President Obama is busy negotiating a means by which Iran, committed to building a nuclear weapon it can use to make good on its threat to wipe Israel off the face of the map (its words, not mine) – will be able to do so…
…which would be just fine with the hard left. (Doubt me? Read this post at crooksandliars.com, and then go to the “comments” section to see what its regulars have to say about Mr. Scarborough\’s comments. If you are unaware of how deep-seated the hatred of Israel is among hard-leftists, it will be a fast education for you.)
It is therefore imperative that Prime Minister Netanyahu be allowed to make his case before congress – the part of congress willing to listen, that is – and explain the danger of doing so. Not just to Israel but to the rest of the world as well.
If President Obama had invited Mr. Netanyahu to speak to him or congress, this political brouhaha would not be occurring. But since Mr. Obama can\’t stand Mr. Netanyahu or the country he leads – since Mr. Obama\’s tolerance for Jews seems to begin and end at hard-left Jews with fat wallets – that did not happen.
Thank you, Joe, for saying it plain. And thanks, in advance, to the Democrats who boycott Mr. Netanyahu\’s addresss and – maybe there\’s a slim hope here – shows the “Lost Tribe” (i.e. Jews and non-Jews who support Israel but also support Obama & Co.) just what they\’re on board with.
