Stephen “Steve” Scalise (R-LA) is the Republican majority whip in the House of Representatives.
In 2002, Mr. Scalise either did or did not make a speech to a group formed by KKKer/racist/anti-Semite david duke. It is unclear whether he spoke to that group or to another group which met earlier in the day at the same Hotel.
In any event, the speech was not about race or religion.
And despite the fact that no one can seem to find anything racist or anti-Semitic during Scalise\’s tenure in the House, despite the fact that Black leaders from Louisiana, who would run – not walk, but run – to take him down if did, have come forward to vouch for him, Democrats – aided copiously by many mainstream media venues – are calling for his head on a silver platter.
Which leads me to offer profuse thanks for Walter E. Williams. Mr. Williams has just put out a column, which contains this excerpt:
Someare calling on Scalise to step down or for House Speaker John Boehnerto fire him. There\’s no claim that Scalise made racist statements.
Hardlyanyone blinks an eye at the Rev. Al Sharpton\’s racist statements,such as: “White folks was in the caves while we (blacks) wasbuilding empires. … We built pyramids before Donald Trump ever knewwhat architecture was. … We taught philosophy and astrology andmathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around toit.”
Sharptonagain: “So (if) some cracker come and tell you \’Well, my motherand father blood go back to the Mayflower,\’ you better hold yourpocket. That ain\’t nothing to be proud of. That means theirforefathers was crooks.” Sharpton also offered, “If theJews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back andcome over to my house.”
Despitesuch racism, President Barack Obama has made Sharpton his go-to guyon matters of race. But not to worry. Obama himself spent 20 yearslistening to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright\’s anti-Semitic and racistsermons. The news media and intellectual elite don\’t condemn Sharptonor Obama, because they have two standards of behavior: one for whitesand a lower one for blacks.
Have these same media demanded that sharpton be banished from the White House? That President Obama apologize for his intense relationship with sharpton? Step down from the presidency, the way some have demanded that Scalise resign?
How about New York Mayor bill de blasio? And, of course, MSNBC, where sharpton holds court every weekday evening.
Do yourself a favor and don\’t hang by your thumbs waiting for any of this to happen.
As Mr. Williams says, they have two standards of behavior: one for Whites and a lower one for Blacks.
These are the people who call others racist? It would be funny if it weren\’t so infuriatingly hypocritical.
It is amazing how much racism emanates from people who profess to be against racism.
