Why have we not yet seen the results of the Department of Justice\’s investigation of Michael Brown\’s shooting and killing by police officer Darren Wilson?
According to news reports, Attorney General eric holder sent 40 – that\’s right, 40 – FBI agents to Ferguson, Missouri to gather information. What did they find out…and why isn\’t holder releasing it?
I\’m not the only one who wants answers to those questions. Here is the contents of a letter from Missouri\’s Lieutenant Governor, Peter Kinder, asking for them (you can see the letter itself by clicking here):
Dear Attorney General Holder:
Iwrite concerning the federal civil rights investigation arising outof the August 9, 2014 events in Ferguson that led to the tragic deathof Michael Brown.
Yourinvestigation, on top of state and local investigations that includedgrand jury proceedings, has been proceeding for more than fourmonths.
Publishedreports quoting a spokesperson for you informed the public that nofewer than 40 FBI agents were deployed to this investigation. This ison top of other Department of Justice resources and personnel on thescene.
Thelocal investigation was conducted thoroughly and placed every scrapof evidence before the grand jury. We know that all of the evidenceis available to your FBI agents and other personnel.
Irespectfully request that you release to the public the findings offact from your federal investigation into whether a civil rightsviolation occurred.
Iask this not knowing what those findings are. However, I believe thatall Missourians, indeed all Americans, have a right to know thosefacts, whatever they may be.
Ihave spoken this day to the Mayor of Ferguson, the Honorable JamesKnowles, who joins me in this request.
Respectfully, sir, I look forward to your response.
What possible reason does eric holder have for not releasing this report – other than that he does not like the results?
Maybe we should change his name to eric withholder.
Let\’s have it, Mr. Attorney General. Or are you joining North Korea in censoring what you don\’t want us to see?
Sadly, that would not surprise me one little bit.
