BASPA: DEMOCRATS AND INFANTICIDE

Not being a fan of josef mengele, I find it beyond sickening to discuss infanticide as an issue.

But there are Democrats – a lot of them – who have no problem with it at all.

I have spent years discussing Democrat opposition to BAIPA – the Born Again Infant Protection Act – which says that if a baby survives an abortion – i.e. the baby is born alive, all efforts should be made to preserve that baby’s life.

Before going on, let me remind you that we are not – repeat, NOT – talking about an abortion-related issue here.  We are talking about a baby that is born – i.e. out of the womb and into the world alive – even  if the “mother” wished that it was dead.

Democrats, led by Barack Obama both as an Illinois State Senator and a President – have fought BAIPA ) for years.  Personally, I have been blogging about it since 2008.

Now another attempt at passing legislation – called the Born Alive Survivors Protection Act (BASPA) has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Ben Sasse (R-NE).

And the fight against this legislation – the fight to allow live babies to die because the “mother” wishes they were dead – continues.

read the following excerpts from Krystina Skurk’s article, at thefederalist.com, and see for yourself:

The Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act is not about restricting abortions but about giving newborns a chance to survive no matter where they are born, said Sen. Ben Sasse, the bill’s lead co-sponsor, at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday.

During the hearing, called “The Infant Patient: Ensuring Appropriate Medical Care for Children Born Alive,” Republican senators questioned why a baby born in a hospital should be treated differently than a baby born in an abortion facility. Democrats, lacking an answer, changed the subject.

Thirteen committee senators heard from five female witnesses, three who shared powerful testimony and two who expressed concerns about the bill.

(Republican Senator Ben) Sasse tried to clarify numerous times that this legislation was not about abortion but about what happens after an abortion. Neither (abortion activist Fatima Foss) Graves nor the Democratic senators in the room agreed. Graves said she believes the bill is on a continuum of restrictive abortion measures. Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, agreed, saying that women’s health is under attack every day, especially under Trump, and that this bill is the latest in a decades-long threat against abortion.

Instead of arguing for or against protecting infants born alive, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., argued U.S. health care is biased against African-American women. Instead of fighting for legislation that protects infants born alive, Harris argued we should make taxpayers provide better housing and food for pregnant women.

No, it is not an abortion issue, unless you consider either killing a newborn baby or allowing it to die of neglect an abortion.  No, it is not a racial issue; the legislation does not distinguish between races.

In my opinion, senators who oppose preserving the life of a living, out-of-the-womb baby, for the “crime” of surviving an attempt on its life, do not deserve to be senators.  I’m not sure they deserve to be called human beings.

Pass this legislation.  Now.
