Enough of this BS.
I have heard the “statistic” that 19% of college females are sexually assaulted one time too many. Make that 1,000 times too many, since it has been repeated endlessly by breathless “journalists” who do not know what they are talking about….but apparently think this “finding” is too good not to report.
Four months ago today, Ashe Schow of the Washington Examiner, wrote an article in which he exposed how the phony-baloney sexual assault data were created.
Here is the key excerpt:
Thestatistic comes from a 2007Campus Sexual Assault study conducted by the National Instituteof Justice, a division of the JusticeDepartment. The researchers made clear that the study consistedof students from just two universities, but some politicians ignoredthat for their talking point, choosing instead to apply the smallsample across all U.S. college campuses.
TheCSA study was actually an online survey that took 15 minutes tocomplete, and the 5,446 undergraduate women who participated wereprovided a $10 Amazon gift card. Men participated too, but theiranswers weren\’t included in the one-in-five statistic.
Nineteenpercent of women who responded to the survey said they hadexperienced some kind of sexual assault, either attempted orcompleted (12.6 percent reported attempted sexual assaults,13.7percent reported completed sexual assaults and some women reportedboth).
Buta lot of those responses have to do with how the questions wereworded. For example, the CSA study asked women whether they hadsexual contact with someone while they were “unable to provideconsent or stop what was happening because you were passed out, drugged, drunk, incapacitated or asleep?”
Thesurvey also asked the same question “about events that you think(but are not certain) happened.”
So there you have it. A single study, conducted among students in a total of 2 colleges, online instead of face to face, including sexual assaults that the females could only imagine (drunk, asleep), and sexual assaults they think might have happened but actually don\’t know.
If that isn\’t BS, what is?
Oh, one other thing: The Department of Justice released a report on Thursday, in which it estimates how many rapes take place on college campuses.
The DOJ\’s conclusion? 6.1 rapes….per thousand.
Not only is that less than 1%, but it is less than for women who are not in college (7.6 per thousand — about 25% more than their college counterparts).
NOW can media, along with countless TV talking heads, stop quoting BS they know nothing about and start dealing in facts?
Don\’t count on it.
