How would you like to have been a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri for the last three or so months?
Trust me, the job description is not like it would be for most small surburban towns.
Since Michael Brown was shot and killed by Officer Darren Wilson, Ferguson\’s police – I\’m talking about the rest of the force which had nothing to do with that confrontation – have had to endure behavior I cannot even begin to imagine being able to handle. Every day – and very especially night – they have had to deal with angry “protesters” – a good many espousing causes completely unrelated to Michael Brown, screaming the vilest epithets – including viciously racial epithets – and using the vilest gestures imaginable.
I don\’t know how they do it.
Want a taste? Watch this video, which I pulled from Ryan Lovelace\’s article at nationalreview.com (you didn\’t really expect the network web sites to show you this part of the story, did you?) and see for yourself. Then please read the rest of Mr. Lovelace\’s article and find out how much more there is.
Multiply that by hours and hours, every day, for over a quarter of a year. How would you handle it?
Now: what do you think is going to happen if, as is more than likely, the grand jury does not indict Darren Wilson?
What will you say if one or more of them snaps and does something regrettable? Will you ask why a professional law enforcement officer had so little self control?
Think about it.
